I could not help but notice a little blurb on the sports wires this morning about Kansas City Chiefs running back, Jamaal Charles threatening to hold out unless the Kansas City Chiefs redo his contract and pay him what he thinks he's worth.
I can tell you what he's not worth - The 3.9 million the Chiefs are slated to pay him this year.
With that $3.9 million, Charles is expected to be the 13th highest paid running back in the NFL.
Jamaal Charles makes about a third of what Adrian Peterson does.
The Stats - Jamaal Charles rushed for 1509 yards in 2012.
2013 - 1980 yards from scrimmage and 19 td's.
What this does to the Chiefs:
About a week ago I wrote an article about Charles previewing him for Fantasy Football. In that article I went into great depth about the problems the Chiefs have at offensive line. Three players, two starters were lost to free agency. The left tackle had off-season shoulder surgery and is just now rounding into shape and one of the backups is suspended for four games for violating the NFL's joke of a PED policy.
The Chiefs are already a little shaky at offensive line and they certainly don't need the face of the franchise not coming to training camp.
Camp is about rhythm and repetition. Miss camp and the o-line and the RB and the QB aren't on the same page all season.
Not being in camp also creates a divide among the team.
Is this what you want Chiefs?
What this does to your Fantasy Football Draft:
Right now, Jamaal Charles is flying off draft boards as the No. 1 overall pick.
Good thing I'm not drafting until Labor Day.
Running backs that hold out of camp, get hurt and hurt running backs never recover and never recovered running backs end up in the ditch.
Don't end up in a ditch Jamaal Charles.
It certainly bears monitoring this little contract snafu. I would still probably take Charles off the board at No. 4 but it's a risky No. 4 now that he seems to be disgruntled.
How does this kind of stuff not get solved in the off-season? Hello!
Pay the man Chiefs or you really might be the CHEFS this season.
If you get this far, please take a minute to review the video post. My buddy and I the white, she-mamba (JK) are trying to get our TUFF Talk show off the ground and are looking for feedback.
